Michele Y. Rosta is the owner and lead Soapstress of The Funky Chunks Soap Company. Michele's infactuation with soap and love of soapmaking started at a very young age when she was introduced to the craft as a small child by her Great Grandmother. "My Great Grandmother's experiments with soapmaking were never dull and were sometimes quite dangerous. She used leftover soap bits, oils and colognes to create some very interesting, if not downright ugly soaps. Those ugly soaps were truly amazing! Even as a small child I knew that handmade soap was something special." Through the early years, Michele was longing for quality soaps and lotions that she felt comfortable using which were healthy for her personally, yet were not putting a dent in her budget. She always believed wholesome and unique did not have to equate to costly. With a gentle pushing from friends and a desire to produce a fantastic product to share with others, Michele went back to her childhood memories of handmade soap for inspiration. She tweaked and old family recipe and launched The Funky Chunks Soap Company in 2008. Michele started making soap in her small apartment kitchen and moved the Funky Chunks Soap Company to it's current home, a 1,000 square foot production studio in 2010.
The team at The Funky Chunks Soap Company pride ourselves on paying attention to all of the little details when it comes to the creation, production, packaging, sales, and customer service of our unique and funky product lines. Funky Chunks uses only high quality vegetable oils in all our soap products. We make our soaps in small batches to bring you the freshest soaps possible. Our soaps are Vegan friendly and have fragrant big bubble lather that is kind and gentle to your skin. We strive to create products that will give you an amazing shower and bath experience. We gather the inspiration for our soap scents from the many places of our staff travels. We love to capture the local colors and scents of the Jersey Shore where we started, but our imaginations don't stop there. We also draw from each of our childhood memories, spiritual connections, cultural experiences, and our customer's well thought-out inspirational suggestions to create some of our more unique fragrance combinations. Our soaps are bright, bold and fragrant. Every day at Funky Chunks is creative and fun and we hope that our soaps bring a little of that excitement to our customers.
